Police Say No APC Chieftain Was Killed In The State In Taraba
The Taraba Police Command on Friday said no All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain was killed in the state by miscreants. The news of the killing was said to be contained in the news flash of a private television station on Friday.
The police spokesman in the state, Mr David Misal, told the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN ) in Jalingo that the story of a purported killing of an APC chieftain in the state was false. He, however, said two people had sustained injuries from a violent attack shortly after they attended a recent campaign rally of a politician at Dampar in Ibi Local Government Area of the state.
Misal said: “It is not true. No APC chieftain was killed in the incident.
“What actually happened was that two people sustained injuries from a violent attack when they returned from a campaign rally of a politician at Dampar.
“I will not give you any name because when you are dealing with political cases, you have to be careful to avoid misinterpretation.
“The two persons are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo.
“The offence here is that they did not contact the security agencies before embarking on the rally.
“That is the reason why we have always advised politicians to contact security agencies before going for rallies so that they can be protected.
“If we had been informed, we would have averted the attack.’’
He warned politicians in the state against violating the law while canvassing for votes in the February 2017 local government election in the state.
“Any political rally without security approval will be considered as a threat to security and the perpetrators would be liable to prosecution,’’ Misal said.
Checkout The 4 Times Terrorists Have Threatened To Bomb Third Mainland Bridge
On December 29, 2016, the police have foiled an attempt by a
notorious Niger Delta militant group operating from the creeks of
Ikorodu and Arepo on the outskirts of Lagos and Ogun states to blow up
the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
This is not the first time, Lagos has experienced a terrorist threat on Third Mainland Bridge, popularly called 3MB.
The Third Mainland Bridge is the longest of three bridges connecting Lagos Island to the mainland, the other two being the Eko and Carter bridges. It is also quite popular and used frequently to ease movement in Lagos, between the mainland and the island.
1. MEND threat in 2007
THE Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) in October, 2007 threatened to widen the theatre of the conflict back then, by blowing up the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
This threat was contained in an interview by Times of Nigeria with Jomo Gbomo, the self-acclaimed leader of the militia group
MEND is one of the largest militant groups in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. The organization claims to expose exploitation and oppression of the people of the Niger Delta and devastation of the natural environment by public-private partnerships between the Federal Government of Nigeria and corporations involved in the production of oil in the Niger Delta.
2. Boko Haram threat in 2012
The Boko Haram terrorist group in a phone call to Africa Independent Television (AIT) in 2012, threatened to unleash bomb attacks in Lagos and Abuja unless the then, President Goodluck Jonathan appeared on AIT for an open discussion with them.
Their major planned targets, where the Third Mainland Bridge and other major infrastructure. The phone call was broadcast on the AIT news at 8pm and the sect made some demands and promised to unleashed terror if they were not met.
3. Asawana Deadly Force in 2016
Meanwhile in June 2016, a militant group from the Niger Delta gave a statement saying they would blow up the bridge.
The statement read: “We are bombing Bonga field, Onitsha -Asaba bridge, Third Mainland bridge, and other major bridges across the southern of the country, on Saturday 2nd July,2016.”
“This is not a mere threat. The only way out is for the Federal Government to relocate all headquarters of major oil companies to Niger Delta. They are built with our oil money. They must be moved back to the Niger Delta region.”
“If the federal government fails before the said day, we shall surely carry out the attack. The companies which headquarters we want back now include; Chevron,Agip and Shell which has their headquarters in Lagos.”
4. Latest threat in 2016
The most recent threat came from Abiodun Amos (aka Senti), the leader of a militant gang that was arrested for plotting to bomb the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos state.
He has disclosed that the federal government’s failure to consider he and his members for amnesty triggered their decision to cause havoc.
Amos, who is one of the leaders of a notorious militant group operating in Ikorodu and Arepo areas of Lagos and Ogun states.

After Fall Of Sambisa Forest, Shekau’s New Hiding Place Revealed
Following the capture of Camp Zero which is the strong-hold
of Boko Haram terrorists in Sambisa Forest, Abubakar Shekau has been
reportedly sighted at Kala-Balge area.
Shekau who is the factional leader of the terrorist group was not captured in the mop-up raid in the forest which took place on Friday, December 23.
Although the Boko Haram leader was spotted in a recent video claiming the dreaded group is still strong, the Nigerian Army has dismissed it as mere propaganda.
The Punch reports that a top military source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the terrorist group was “tremendously weakened and are trying to avoid confrontation … by hiding in some obscure locations.”
A member of the vigilante group involved in the fight against Boko Haram said: “They were sighted in large numbers in … the Kala-Balge area” which is closer to Cameron.
Abubakar Gamandi who is the head of the fishermen union in Borno state said some terrorists were regrouping around Lake Chad which is close to Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon and Chad.
“The islets are between one and two square kilometres and the fresh water and abundant fish in the lake make them habitable.”
Meanwhile, the French government sent message to its troop stationed in Africa to be prepared for a long war against terrorism in the region.
This is coming on the heels of an operation by Nigerian troops in Sambisa forest that led to the capture of Camp Zero which is the stronghold of the terrorists.
Among those arrested in the forest were 40 foreigners with some suspected to be French citizens following the arrest of one who is an expert in Amoured Personnel Carriers (APCs).
Vanguard reports that Bernard Cazeneuve who is the prime minister of France also promised Chad, where French troops have been stationed since 2014 under Operation Barkhane, his nation’s financial support.
“Our country must continue to make clear and ambitious budgetary decisions in support of our armies.”
“We must prepare for a long war in an environment that has undergone dramatic shifts,” Cazeneuve said.

NLC Insists On N56,000 Minimum Wage, Vows To Unite Factions
The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr. Ayuba
Wabba, has said the congress would do all things to preserve the unity
of the Labour movement in the country.
He also said the NLC was sticking to a proposal of N56,000 minimum wage it made to the Federal Government.
Wabba made the comment while reacting to the formation of a new Labour centre known as the United Labour Congress by some top Labour leaders in Lagos on Saturday.
Those behind the formation of the new centre unanimously elected the General Secretary of the National Union of Electricity Employees, Mr. Joe Ajaero and the President of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, Achese Igwe as President and Deputy President respectively.
Listed among the breakaway affiliates of the NLC and the Trade Union Congress are NUPENG, NUEE, Nigeria Union of Mine Workers, National Union of Banks, Insurance and Financial Employees, Nigeria Union of Rail Workers, National Union of Lottery Agents and Employees, Association of Nigeria Aviation, Professionals, National Association Aircraft Pilots and Engineers and others.
But Wabba said that the congress had made serious efforts to ensure reconciliation with aggrieved Labour leaders after the division in the congress caused by the outcome of the 2015 Delegates Congress of the NLC, especially the intervention of veteran Labour leaders led by the Pioneer President of the Congress, Alhaji Hassan Sunmonu.
He noted that the Labour leaders announced as President and Deputy President of the newly formed UCL, Ajaero and Igwe, had earlier declared themselves as President and Deputy President of the NLC after the election which he insisted was adjudged to be free and fair by various groups.
He attributed the formation of the new Labour centre to the desperation of the affected Labour leaders to occupy certain positions at all cost.
He said,
Wabba also restated the position of the NLC that it would not guarantee Industrial peace in the country if the government failed to constitute the tripartite committee to determine a new Minimum Wage in the country before May 1, 2017.
He stressed that the NLC had made a proposal of N56,000 Minimum Wage to the Federal Government and was still sticking to the demand.

“Essentially, you are aware that we have done everything possible to ensure that the issue of reconciliation after the 2015 conference ate actually addressed, and you are also aware that our veterans gave out it their best, especially the founding President Alhaji Hassan Sunmonu.

Bashar said the seizures were made on November 29, 2016 and the containers were examined the next day.
Basha said:
We first impounded a vehicle that was discovered to have carried magazines with 10 life rounds of ammunition while our officers were discharging from a vessel. The vehicle is a used Toyota Corolla 2004 model car with chassis number 2T1BR32E54C309841.The seizure comes just days before the customs announced the ban on importation of cars through land borders.
There are no suspects yet because we discovered this when the vehicles were just coming out of the vessel. But investigations are ongoing on the owner of the vehicle so that we can bring the culprits to book.
Also, in a container with number MSCU718443/6 containing one used Nissan Armada 2007 model with chassis number 5NIAA08A69N709779, we discovered the following items: One Omini American tactical rifle with number AR48634; one Moaperg American Pump Action rifle with number U648018.
In addition to these two rifles, we also discovered in the same container 3500 pieces of Premier Hollow Point Airgun pallets and another 4000 pieces of Premier Hollow Point gun pallets. There is also inside the container 26 parks of already made foods for military use.
Nine pieces of military bullet proof vests; military helmets; military gas mask with two pairs of glasses; and two pairs of military boots. We have one suspect with us. The name of the suspect is Mr Christian Mbachi. We will be handing the suspect and all the seized military hardware to the DSS for further investigations.
In this yuletide period, the security of this country should be paramount to everybody. Why will somebody bring in all this military hardware and ammunitions into the country, putting them inside a container tagged ‘Personal Effect Container’.
A personal effect container does not pay duty. This is so because government wants to encourage Nigerians coming back home. So, if government has graciously granted such a waiver for Personal Effect Containers, should people abuse it by bringing in military ammunition and hardware inside such containers?

Breaking News: Founder Of MMM, Serge Mavrodi Makes Important Announcement On Account Restriction
A statement credited to the face of the Mavrodi Mundial Moneybox – Serge Mavrodi has been addressed to Nigerian journalists and other financial experts reporting the rumoured crash of the wonder bank which froze the accounts of members till the 13th of January, 2016 over suspicious reasons of heavy financial withdrawals against the yuletide and purported intimidation from the media.
In the stinking message titled “Appeal to Journalists from Sergey
Mavrodi” and disseminated from the official Facebook page of MMM
Nigeria, Mavrodi takes a swipe at news reporters over their coverage of
the Ponzi Scheme that has orchestrated a national panic among its 3
million members in Nigeria.
He assured troubled subscribers of the full operation of the
money-doubling initiative at the stipulated date in January, 2017 after
the yuletide.
Meanwhile, Naijaloaded couldn’t ascertain as at press time if the
press release was directly from the Russian ex-convict, Mavrodi.
Read the full report below:
Appeal to Journalists from Sergey Mavrodi
Dear journalists, “analysts” and all kinds of “experts”!
Please stop using MMM to gain cheap popularity. Leave us alone and
let us work without interference. I’m just astonished by your
irresponsibility and cynical attitude. Interests of millions of people,
your fellow citizens are at stake. Don’t you have any sympathy for them?
Why are you fueling hysteria around MMM and provoking a panic? Why are
you doing this so diligently and persistently, what is your purpose?
In fact, absolutely all your provocative and worthless articles and
“analyses” (I said “worthless” because you do not have any real
information about what happens in the System, and might have never had;
you simply invent everything, fabricate it) are merely negative: “MMM
has collapsed!!!.. MMM will not be working in January!!!..” etc. Are you
intentionally presenting all of it in such a manner and whipping up
tension by any means possible in order to increase the ratings of your
publications and attract attention to them? Don’t you care about people
at all?
So, nothing has collapsed, and MMM will safely resume its work in
January, as announced. Suspension of work for holidays is a usual thing,
merely working moment, no more than that. It would have remained a
normal, just a part of the usual routine, and might have gone almost
unnoticed if it were not for your totally cynical and irresponsible
attempts to advertise yourself, create a scandal out of nowhere, and
make the most of this news topic in any possible way.
Again, leave MMM alone and let us work. Nothing has collapsed, and
MMM will perfectly resume its work in January. We Can Change the World!

Former Abia State governor who recently joined the APC has visited Biafra agitator, Nnamdi Kanu at the Kuje Prison today. Kanu is standing trial for alleged treason for his actions.
Looks like the ex-governor is trying to plead for a soft landing for him, for Buhari to forgive him.
Uzor Kalu has told him to forget the idea of fighting the federal government for Biafra, a dead issue that was settled at the end of the Nigeria/Biafra war in 1969.
Kalu has been urging his fellow Igbos to forget Biafra talk and embrace Nigeria for the good of all

‘2019 Election Will Be A Tsunami’- River State Governor Wike Says
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has said that the
“invasion” of the state by security agents during the December 10
legislative rerun was an indication that the 2019 general election will
be a Tsunami of sort.
Wike said Nigerians should expect fighter jets to be used during the next general elections, wondering why the military, 28,000 policemen and gunboats should be used for an ordinary legislative rerun.
The governor, who addressed journalists on Thursday night, observed that even Divisional Police Officers in the state were transferred a day before the rerun.
He said,
He said,
He said,
Finebone said, “It is important to state that the APC have on several occasions in the past been brought under scrutiny by Sahara Reporters to the amusement of Wike and the PDP. But today, they have found it convenient to associate the APC with Sahara Reporters.
“That is absolute falsehood coming from him. Governor Wike should think of a better response, which we doubt he has because the audio recording is clear to everyone that it is the voice of the governor threatening to kill people.”

The governor, who addressed journalists on Thursday night, observed that even Divisional Police Officers in the state were transferred a day before the rerun.
He said,
“If you can have an invasion by the military, police, DSS and INEC for an ordinary legislative rerun election, then if you have presidential and governorship election, it will be a Tsunami. On the audio clip alleging that he threatened officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Wike described the material (audio clip) as contrived, adding that it was sponsored by the All Progressives Congress.
“There will be fighter jets; they will locate people’s houses and bomb them because that is the only thing remaining. That is why I said anybody who is thinking about 2019 is wasting his time.
“28,000 policemen, three gunboats and others; even DPOs were transferred a day to the election. Some of the security agents had charms in their vehicles for the legislative rerun. They must bomb everybody who does not agree with them,” he added.
He said,
“When you look at certain things, you just laugh. At no time did I speak to any electoral officer, let alone issue threats to any electoral officer. There is nowhere I spoke to an electoral officer, threatening him or her as the case maybe. The governor said rather than bring the SARS Commander, Mr. Akin Fakorede, to justice for the roles he played during the rerun, as captured on video, the police authorities arrested the policemen who accompanied him (Wike) to stop the commander from swapping Rivers East Senatorial District results sheet.
“It is totally not correct. The major issue is: did the police participate in rigging election? Did the army participate in rigging the election? Did INEC compromise?
“Let them face the reality and stop chasing shadows. What is audio clip? What can’t this government do? I don’t have an orderly; I don’t have a chief security officer, I don’t have camp commandant. All were taken away before the election.”
He said,
“They have now arrested and detained the policemen, who accompanied me to the collation centre to stop him. Even Akin Fakorede, who was caught on video, has been released so that police can bungle it. What kind of country is this? But the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Chris Finebone, said Wike was caught pants down and had nowhere to hide.

Rivers Govt Denies Audio Recording On Gov. Wike
The Rivers State government has denied an audio recording released by
Sahara Reporters alleged to be that of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom
Wike, calling it a technological contraption. Listen to the audio here
According the audio recording, a voice purportedly of Governor Wike is heard in a telephone conversation arranging payment to some persons who are supposedly officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in exchange for their help in rigging the recently concluded legislative elections in the state.
In a statement by the Commissioner of Information, Austin Tam-George, the government said that the Governor had no contact with any INEC official.
The statement reads: “We categorically deny these latest allegations as a sick fabrication, an outright lie.

“No one would have thought that the APC and its cowardly media allies would resort to an audio impersonation of Governor Nyesom Wike, using a voice changer technology.
“The voice changer technology is often used by teenagers mainly in South Korea and Japan to launch innocent technological pranks at each other, mainly for laughs.
“The use of such a technology to blackmail a governor is a new criminal low for the APC, a party already widely discredited for its addiction to falsehood.
“The APC and Saharareporters are inmates in the prison of their own lies. We reject the latest blackmail by the APC.”

Election Hacking: Provide Proof Or Shut Up, Putin Tells Obama
Russia, on Friday, slammed Washington for pointing the
accusing finger at President Vladimir Putin over cyber attacks against
the US during the November 8 election which Donald Trump won
surprisingly.
President Barack Obama had pledged to retaliate against Russian hacking.
“Whenever a foreign government tried to interfere in US elections, the nation must take action – “and we will”, Mr Obama told NPR News.
Barack Obama said the email hacking was more important than the content.
“Some of it may be explicit and publicised, some of it may not be,” he said. “But Mr Putin is well aware of my feelings about this, because I spoke to him directly about it.”
On Thursday the Obama administration suggested President Putin personally authorised the hacking of Democratic officials’ email accounts in the run-up to the election and said it was “fact” that such actions helped Donald Trump’s campaign.
The information on Mr Putin’s alleged involvement reportedly came from spies and diplomatic sources.
Russia has denied state-sponsored hacking to tip the balance towards Mr Trump, who is seen as more pro-Russia than his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said; “At this point they need to either stop talking about this or finally present some sort of proof. Otherwise this looks extremely scurrilous.”

Atiku Reveals What Is Ruining Nigeria And It’s Not The Leaders (Read Details)
Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president has said there is a need to restructure the federation of the country.
Speaking on Monday, December 12, at the public presentation of a book titled ‘Nigerian Federalism: Continuing Quest for Stability and Nation-Building’ in Abuja, Atiku said the current system is what is ruining Nigeria and the individuals running it.
He said currently, Nigeria is constituted as an entity that is rooted in corruption, impunity and injustice and thus must be reconstituted.
“Political and civic leaders from across the country must come together, discuss, negotiate and make the necessary compromises and sacrifices needed to restructure our federation to make us a stronger, more united, productive, and competitive country,” the former vice president stated.
According to him, there is a flaw in the country’s constitution which was why there is a recurring cry of marginalization from every section of the country.
“No section of this country can claim correctly that its people are better served by the current structure of our federation. When we were not dependent on oil revenues and when the federating units had greater autonomy of action and were largely responsible for their affairs, they, that is our regional governments, did not owe workers their salaries for several months,” he said.
Atike stated that there were too many weak and unviable states and what the country needs are stronger federal units.
He said what got the country to its centre-dominated federal system is political expediency and fear.
“What I find odd is the argument that we cannot renegotiate our union and every demand for restructuring is an attempt to break up Nigeria,” he added.
Atiku noted that the call for restructuring does not mean a call for Nigeria to break up, but only a call for the imposition of a system where transparency, efficiency and equity will prevail.
The former vice president challenged those who against restructuring the country’s federal system as it currently stands, to show an example of countries that are functioning well with a structure such as Nigeria.
He said each nation has to work out what federal system is best suited for it and in the case of Nigeria, it is disingenuous if not outright dishonest to say that the system is not the problem.
Atiku has been advocating for Nigeria to be restructured. In July, he insisted that restructuring Nigeria is the only solution to the problem confronting the nation. He urged the different components to look at restructuring as a solution, adding that he was a believer in the existence of one Nigeria.
However, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is against calls for country the to be restructured as that is not the solution to the country’s problem. He said the best move was to diversify the economy.

The Penang Biafra football team were obviously in control of the pace of the game from the beginning to the end of the March. Meanwhile the game was played in a very thrilling and brotherly atmosphere and it ended without any injuries to any side.

SHAMEFUL!!! NFF Pays Just N100k Each To Falcons Out Of Outstanding Millions, Girls Remain In Hotel
Protesting players of the Nigerian senior women’s national
team, the Super Falcons may have soft-pedalled on their decision to
openly confront the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and the federal
government over the non payment of bonuses and other allowances running
into millions of naira after winning an unprecedented eight African
Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Cameroon a fortnight ago.
The African champions refused to vacate their hotel in Abuja, insisting they will remain there until they were paid their money. A visit to the hotel yesterday by Sports Vanguard showed that the girls who were hitherto eager to talk to the media concerning their plight were no where to be found as they stayed back in the rooms with a directive to the front desk staff that they do not want to talk to anybody.
However Vanguard’s checks further revealed that the latest action may have been informed by the fact that the NFF last Friday paid the sum of N100,000.00 naira to the bank account of each of the players. The money, reports informed, is part payment of their outstanding bonuses and allowances.
A reliable source at the NFF who pleaded anonymity told Sports Vanguard on phone that the money was paid with the hope that the protesting players will heed their plea to vacate the hotel, but that may not have been the case.
“I can confirm to you that last Friday, the NFF credited the sum of N100,000.00 to the account of each of the players as part payment of the unpaid backlog; and pleaded with them to vacate their hotel with a firm promise to pay the balance as soon as they get the money from the federal government.
“But I can equally tell you that the decision of the girls to remain adamant is because they claim that the Minister for Youth and Sports, Barr. Solomon Dalung who spoke to them last Thursday had promised to ensure they get all their entitlements, adding that he did not ask them to vacate their hotel.”
Vanguard’s source further revealed that it may be difficult for the players to accept a ‘mere’ N100, 000. 00 out of about $20,000 dollars which the players claim they are being owed, dating from their qualification entitlements.

N14,500 For 1 Bag Of Rice, Nigerians Rush To Buy For Christmas
Reports have it that the demand for locally grown rice has
increased among Nigerians especially in Cross River state as Christmas
approaches.
This is unsurprising as the cost of imported rice has risen to between N22,000 and N26,000.
According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), a Calabar resident Richard Nku had this to say:
“It is cheaper, more affordable and even sweeter than foreign rice. So I cannot spend as much as N26, 000 just to buy just a bag of rice simply because it is foreign.
“In this Christmas, I am going for locally made rice and that is what my family and everybody in my house will eat until January.”
Raymond Ubi, who also resides in the Cross River capital, said: “I go for our own made rice, no matter what people think about it, I prefer it, in fact I like it more than the so called foreign rice.”
Fidel Egoro who is one of those farming the rice in an interview with the press, had this to say:
“We are under serious pressure to deliver on demand and that is why we cannot accept people paying us through banks.
“We do not have the time to go to the bank, so we prefer cash to save time; many people have placed orders for rice and we are trying to meet up before the close of the season.”
There are also fears that with increased demand the price of the rice might actually go higher before Christmas.
Egoro says: “One bushel of rice (equivalent of half bag) sells for N7,250, while two bushels (equivalent of one bag) sells for N14,500).
“This may increase before the close of the season, depending on changes in cost of production.”
Meanwhile, a recent market survey conducted by NAIJ.com at Agege market, Lagos, revealed a slight increase in the price of rice, beans, groundnut oil, palm oil, onion and other foodstuff items.
In the market, traders lamented the low sales they were experiencing even as Christmas and New Year celebrations approach.

Buhari Is Evil – Donald Trump Attacks Nigerian President Again
President-elect of the United States of America, Donald Trump has
once again uttered shocking sentiments towards some of the African
Presidents whom he once gave a warning that he would severely ‘deal’
with them during his campaign, iMzansi reports.
During a long speech on Monday afternoon, Mr Trump had no kind words for the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, whom he lashed out for ‘taking no action’ after 200 Chibok girls were abducted by the notorious force Boko Haram.
”If one of his daughters, let me say two or three were among those who were abducted could he just fold his arms just like that as if all things were ok? That alone shows how evil he is, probably he is secretly behind the Boko Haram, believe me I was hurt, touch not the girl child, no to abuse, he will ‘pay’ for that as well in January”, said Donald Trump.
According to an American political analyst, Mr Michael Reid, Donald Trump is more likely to fulfill his promises since he is a man of his word.

“I want to reiterate here before America’s greatest heroes that I will not condone any dictatorial tendencies exhibited by dictators around the world especially the two old men from Zimbabwe and Uganda. In January when I ascend to Presidency, you will actually know my true colors”.According to the news website, Donald Trump in June last year, also promised that he would off the President of South Africa when he ascends to Presidency. The US president-elect publicly accused President Jacob Zuma of ‘flirting’ and ‘proposing’ love to his wife Melania, after he discovered emails that were sent by Mr Jacob Zuma’s official government email, of which Mr Zuma rubbished the allegations saying he was ‘a man of people’ and a ‘friend’ to everyone.
‘Mugabe and Museveni must be put on notice that their days are numbered and that I am going to arrest them and lock them in prison. If the past American administrations have failed to stop these two despots, I will personally do it,” Trump was quoted.

Better To Marry More Wives Than Have One Wife & Many Lovers – Catholic Priest Says
A Catholic Priest has spoken out about some church doctrines which should be amended to suite the African culture.
Rev. Father Gabriel Ngbe of Akwangwa Catholic Church, in Nasarawa State, Nigeria, has canvassed the need for the Church to incorporate some good aspects of African culture in its Doctrine.
The Catholic priest said that polygamy should be accepted in the Church because of those that have more than one wife.
His words: “The Whiteman that brought Christianity to us mixed the religion with his culture and Africans just accepted it like that at the expense of our culture.”
The clergyman made the assertion on Sunday while celebrating Acculturation Mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Akwanga.
Ngbe insisted that the Catholic doctrine should be amended, especially in African Catholic Churches in order to accommodate every member of the Church.
“If we did not incorporate parts of our culture into the way we worship God, our culture would in no distant time go into extinction,” he said.
Rev. Father Ngbe explained that local foods should henceforth be used for communion in Catholic Church instead of using products imported from Europe.
The priest also said meaningful Nigerian names should be given to people during the Baptism and Confirmation in Catholic Churches as against using “English names”.
He urged Nigerians to imbibe the habit of wearing local dresses during weddings as well as using local languages for Mass.
He said that anybody who practiced polygamy before accepting Christ should be given equal treatment in the Church with those that have only one wife.
“It is better to have many wives at home than to have only one and yet have many girl friends and lovers outside,” the priest stressed.
Father Ngbe commended the Yoruba people for incorporating their culture in the way they practiced both Christianity and Islam and urged others to emulate them.

A report by New Telegraph indicates that President Muhammadu
Buhari has approved the retirement of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS),
General Gabriel Olonisakin, and the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice
Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas.
The duo’s retirement was based on their attaining the official years of retirement from the military.
The CDS and the CNS both belong to the Regular Course 26 of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
While Olonisakin was commissioned Second Lieutenant on December 18, 1981, Ibas’ commissioning took place in 1983.
Military sources quoted in the report said the minister of defence, Brigadier General Mansur Dan-Ali (rtd), has since sent letters to the Service Chiefs, directing them to handoveron or before Friday, December 16.
The sources say the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, is expected to take over from Olonisakin in acting capacity. Abubakar is the most senior service chief after Olonisakin.
Meanwhile, a former president of a Special Court-Martial, Air Vice Marshal James Gbum, is to expected assume the position of CAS, albeit in acting capacity before his confirmation.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the minister of defence, Colonel Tukur Gusau has dismissed the report as untrue.
In a press statement sent to Naijaloaded, Gusau said his boss has not sent any letter directing the service chiefs to handover their offices.
Part of the statement read: “The attention of the Honourable Minister of Defence Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali was drawn to some online publications claiming that he has sent letters to the Chief of Defence Staff General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin and Chief of the Naval staff Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas directing them to hand over their offices on or before Friday, 16 December.
“Please be informed that there was no such communication between the office of the Honourable Minister of Defence and the service chiefs directing any one of them to hand over his office and proceed on retirement.
“The appointment and replacement of service chiefs is a prerogative responsibility of the office of the President and Commander in Chief.”

BREAKING: PDP’s George Sekibo Wins Rivers East Senatorial Election
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the Rivers
East senatorial district election, George Sekibo, has been declared
winner by INEC.
INEC returned Mr. Sekibo winner, Tuesday afternoon, after results from the eight local government areas, LGAs, that constitute Rivers East were collated Tuesday afternoon, almost 48 hours after voting ended.
Mr. Sekibo defeated Andrew Uchendu of the All Progressives Congress, APC. He polled 93,098 votes to defeat Mr. Uchendu who had 34,193 votes.
But there was confrontation between PDP members led by Governor Nyesom Wike and security operatives before the final result was declared at the Port Harcourt City Council Hall.
Mr. Wike mobilised his party members to the venue of the collation centre to demand declaration of the result. The people defied security operatives who were shooting sporadically.
They believed there was a plot to change the result in favour of Mr. Uchendu.
Mr. Sekibo is going to the Senate for the third time. He was first elected to represent Rivers East in the Senate in 2007. Previously, he was in the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007, representing Ogu/Bolo/Okrika Federal Constituency.
He has a history of acrimony with Mr. Amaechi. In January 2008, Mr. Sekibo accused Mr, Amaechi, then Governor of Rivers State, of causing tension between people of Okrika and Ikwerre communities with his ultimatum to the former community to produce militant leader, Ateke Tom. He then said Mr. Amaechi should use legal means to apprehend Mr. Tom.
